The papers include three albums of photographs taken during his period of command in Korea and Japan; one album of photographs and newspaper cuttings and relating to the staging of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics; correspondence from the Minister of Army and foreign ambassadors on the occasion of his retirement. Finally there is a detailed typescript record of his military service.

Soldier. Graduated from Duntroon Military College, 1915. Served in both World Wars. Commander in Chief, British Commonwealth Occupational Forces, Japan and British Commonwealth Forces, Korea, 1951-1953; General Officer Commanding Eastern Command, 1951.
